A couple of days ago, the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal easily defeated 25-year-old American Mackenzie McDonald by a score of 6-1 6-0 6-3, thus qualifying for the third round of the Roland Garros 2020. During that match, the American tried unsuccessfully to surprise his opponent by serving from below, but only remedied the winner of a ruthless Rafa.

Then Rafa defeated in a three sets wins also the Italian Stefano Travaglia, wiping away his rival like he was an hurricane. Rafa, defending champion of the Parisian Slam, is proving to be probably the most in shape player in Bois de Boulogne.

Interviewed after the match with McDonald, the Majorcan assured that he did not feel offended in any way by that gesture, being a shot fully accepted by the rules of this sport.

Novak Djokovic's opinion

The current ATP number one Nole Djokovic, winner of his match against Ricardas Berankis, also talked about the matter: "I saw what Nadal said about it and I agree 100% with him.

Therefore, I do not want to repeat his statement. If by chance you read it, I agree with every word,” said the 17-times-Grand-Slam-winner. The race for the Grand Slam record has never been as close as today, with Rafa just one distance from the all-time record set by Roger Federer and Djokovic pressing from behind, standing at 17.

The next opponent of the Belgrade tennis player will be the Colombian Daniel Elahi Galàn, coming from the qualifiers. Nole has triumphed in Paris only once in his career, in 2016: on that occasion, the Serbian champion overtook Andy Murray in the final in four sets.

However, since his success four years ago, Djokovic has never been able to reach the last act of the tournament. The playing conditions of Roland Garros 2020 are decidedly different from those of the month of May, the period in which the event should have been staged if it had not been for the Coronavirus pandemic.

In France, Covid-19 has claimed more than 30,000 victims while the confirmed cases of contagion are over 570,000. The situation is frightening again in the transalpine country, with the shadow of a new lockdown looming over the nation.

Today Novak Djokovic will face the Colombian Daniel Galan Riverso for the third round of the French Ppem 2020, while Rafael Nadal will play on Sunday his fourth round match against the American Sebastian Korda.
